DCI Releases Faces of Suspected Criminals During the Protests

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has finally released the faces of individuals who are believed to have caused havoc to business owners through looting of property while Gen Z were conducting their peaceful protests.

The first week of the protests was largely peaceful but it was later infiltrated by goons who took advantage of the protests and mingled with the Gen Z and took advantage of the situation to steal from businesses that were closed by their owners due to fear.

Several CCTV footages have shown how the goons torched shops, restaurants and even supermarkets and made away with goods amounting to billions of shillings. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is now banking on the public to also help them in identifying the goons so that necessary action can be taken against them.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has also told the people whose faces appear on the photos to present themselves for further questioning and interrogation.

The two days which were adversely affected and marred with a lot of hooliganism and smuggling of goods were 25th June 2024 when demonstrators were busy in Parliament, others were busy looting businesses around Nairobi CBD and other parts of the country.

The other day that also had a lot of looting is 2nd July 2024. Many people did not turn up on the streets but the looters took advantage of that situation and they entered into several business premises across the country and stole.

The DCI gave some numbers that can be used by the public when they have information about the suspects through the Fichua Kwa DCI Hotline which is 0800-7222-03.

They also added that the information can also be relayed through the Hotline Number of the police, 999, 911 or 112.

The President had stated that they will hunt on all the looters and they will make sure that they face the Law because they were not demonstrators but criminals.
