How England Battered Hungary 4-0 as Spain Suffered a 2-1 Loss to Sweden

Hungary hosted England in another game of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Gareth Southgate named a very strong squad for that encounter. His squad was not very different from the one that he was using in the EURO 2020 competitions. Jordan Pickford maintained his spot in the goalpost. The defense had Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, John Stones and Kyle Walker. The midfield had Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips. The two young midfielders have managed to solidify their spot in that department. It will be very difficult to replace them because their chemistry is working out very well.

The forward line had Jack Grealish, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane. This was a winning squad from the start of the match. Marco Rossi’s Hungary squad had Peter Gulacsi in the goalpost. The defence had Akos Kecskes, Willi Orban and Attila Szalai. The midfield had Bendeguz Bolla, Kleinheisler, Andreas Schafer and Attila Fiola. The forward line had Roland Sallai, Szoboszalai and Adam Szalai.

The England Manager used a 4-2-3-1 formation which proved effective while the Hungary Manager used a 3-4-2-1 formation which did not work very well for him. The first half started on a very high note. All the two teams looked very sharp and they were all attacking. There is no team that managed to get a breakthrough in the first half. They went for the break when the score line was 0-0.

The Managers talked to their players and they came back very strong in the second half. England looked more charged as compared to Hungary. Mason Mount teamed up well with Raheem Sterling and the Manchester City winger scored the first goal of the game. Three minutes later, Raheem Sterling set up a good pass for Harry Kane and the Tottenham Hotspurs player headed in the second goal. This increased his tally of the goals for his national team.

Two Manchester United players teamed up for the third goal. Luke Shaw gave Harry Maguire a brilliant pass and the Manchester United captain scored the goal. This was a well-executed goal because it was created and scored by the defenders. They are versatile defenders who can attack and defend at the same time. They offer that extra thing to the team and they can step up whenever their services are needed.

The team did not stop scoring at that point. Jack Grealish gave Declan Rice a good pass and the midfielder wrapped up the scoring. He scored a good goal from a long range. This helped England to seal the win. The Manager of Hungary made some substitution but they did not help to bring any positive results. He removed Roland Sallai and replaced him with Daniel Salloi, he also removed Bendeguz Bolla and replaced him with Kevin Varga. Laszi Kleinheisler was also substituted and his place was taken by Daniel Gazdag.

Gareth Southgate also made some substitutions, he rested Mason Mount and replaced him with Jesse Lingard. The Manchester United winger has struggled to get into Ole Gunnar’s first team. He was however lucky to be involved in the squad after he was dropped in the final squad that competed in the EURO games. Declan Rice was also substituted and his place was taken by Jordan Henderson of Liverpool. He is also one of the best midfielders who are underrated. Jack Grealish also paved way for Arsenal’s youngster Bukayo Saka. This was a good game for him because it helped him to regain his confidence after the penalty miss in the EURO 2020 finals against Italy.

He is the only Arsenal player in the England national team. His club has suffered a lot since the new season began and it is currently lying in the last position in the Premier League table. The game ended 4-0 in favor of England. The Nation is currently on top of their group followed closely by Poland.

On the other hand Spain suffered a 2-1 loss against Sweden. The two Managers also named very strong squads for that encounter. Luis Enrique named a very strong squad but the players did not perform very well. Unai Simon maintained his position in the goalpost while David De Gea waited on the bench.  The defence had Jordi Alba, Laporte, Eric Garcia and Cesar Azpilicueta. The midfield had Koke, Sergio Busquets and Carlos Soler. The forward line had Gerard Moreno, Alvaro Morata and Ferran Torres. He used a 4-3-3 formation.

Janne Andersson’s first team had Robin Olsen in the goalpost. The defence had Emil Krafth, Victor Lindelof, Filip Helander and Augustinsson. The midfield had Viktor Claesson, Olsson, Albin Ekdal and Emil Forsberg. The striking force had Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak. The Manager used a 4-4-2 formation. Spain started the first half on a very high note and Carlos Soler scored the first goal after being assisted by Jordi Alba. Sweden responded immediately and Alexander Isak equalized the goal. The first half ended 1-1.

The second half started on a very high note. Sweden added the second goal through Viktor Claesson. He was assisted by Dejan Kulusevski. This increased the tempo of the game. Luis Enrique had to act fast in order to get something out of the game. He substituted Gerard Moreno and replaced him with Adama Traore. Alvaro Morata was also substituted and his place was taken by Pablo Sarabia. Koke also gave way for Marcos Llorente.

Sergio Busquets also paved way for Rodri while Carlos Soler gave way for Brais Mendez. The Manager of Sweden also made some changes in order to solidify the lead. He introduced Jens-Lys Cajuste in place of Albin Ekdal, Isaac Kiese Thelin in place of Alexander Isak, Robin Quaison in place of Dejan Kulusevski and Mattias Svanberg also took the place of Emil Forsberg. The game ended 2-1 in favor of Sweden. This is the first time that Spain lost a match in the World Cup Qualifiers after a very long time. Sweden is currently leading the group while Spain is in the second position. The Spanish players should therefore try and do their best in the remaining matches.
