One of the few survivors of the Kenyatta University bus accident that happened in Voi has finally spoken after escaping the accident scene unhurt. The student who identified himself as Felix Onyango narrated how they got the accident.
The Kenyatta University student said that the journey was largely good and they were just moving well when they started it. The bus was also in a good condition and it was not faulty at all.
When they reached Voi, it started raining and then their driver tried to overtake, but he overtook wrongly and that is where clouds became thick. The vehicles were supposed to have a head on collision because the oncoming vehicle was coming and it was near.
The Kenyatta University driver tried to move away but it was too late. That is how the two vehicles collided and the accident happened. The other vehicle knocked the Kenyatta University bus and that is what led to the death of some of the students and some fatal injuries too to the students.
According to him, it is the Kenyatta University driver who miscalculated his moves that led to the accident. If he could have not tried to overtake and just keep his lane, the accident could have not happened because all the drivers could be on their lanes.
The accident claimed lives of several Public Health students who were going for an Educational trip to Malindi. Several students were also injured and they are still getting treatment from various hospitals. Some were also taken to Nairobi for further treatment.
