President William Ruto Announces the Amount of Money the Government Will Give to Households Evacuated in Nairobi Due to Floods

President William Ruto on Monday visited Mathare Constituency in Nairobi County where many victims were affected by the ongoing floods.

He confirmed that 40,000 households have been evacuated in Nairobi and each household will receive a total of 10,000 shillings from the government for alternative accommodation for now as the government works on a long term solution for them and how their lives will continue again.

He assured them that the money that his government has set aside will not be eaten by the wealthy and if they try to do so, then they will meet him head on and meet his wrath. He gave this assurance because there have been cases where the money has been allocated by the government by they always do not reach the intended victims.

President William Ruto also said that the government has purchased enough food that will take care of the victims until they become stable. He assured them that no citizen will go hungry and the government will provide enough food until everyone gets back to their feet after this ordeal.

President William Ruto further acknowledged that the raging floods have interfered with several schools and therefore the government will allocate 1Billon shillings so that the necessary repairs can be made in the schools ahead of the reopening for term two studies.

The Head of State postponed the reopening of schools on Friday until further notice and his decision was justified because the rains are still raining and the floods are still being witnessed. There are some areas that cannot even be accessed because the roads have been adversely affected.

Some of the schools have also been adversely affected while others are acting as rescue centers for the internally displaced people who have been displaced by the floods and they are using the schools for their shelter.
