President Ruto Defies DP Gachagua’s Orders, Tells MPs They are Free to Crisscross the Country

The Deputy President honorable Rigathi Gachagua had told the Members of Parliament that they should stick to their constituencies and stop roaming around the country in the name of politics.

This did not go well with some of the Lawmakers especially those who are very close to the President like the Kapseret Constituency Member of Parliament, honorable Oscar Sudi. He hinted that the Deputy President was uttering those words when he himself was in another Constituency.

The Head of State, President William Ruto has defied the orders of his Deputy and he has told the Members of Parliament that they are free to crisscross the country as they want. He told them that it is part of their work to go around the country.

The President said this while speaking during a church service at Amutala Stadium in Bungoma county, President Ruto told the MPs not to stop moving around.

He even stated that he was very happy that many Members of Parliament were there with him in Bungoma. He added that moving around the country will enable them to get to know the other mandate of legislation that is oversight.

President William Ruto also said that the Members of Parliament have a duty to their constituents through representation but things like legislation and oversight they can only achieve when they move around the country.

The President was accompanied by more than 10 MPs drawn from other different Constituencies in that Prayer Service in Bungoma County. He warned the leaders against dividing the Nation through tribal lines. He urged those in government never to take that route.

Several speakers urged the leaders to shun away from tribal politics because it is not healthy for the country. The Cabinet Secretary of Interior Professor Kithure Kindiki talked about it and it was also empasized by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, honorable Musalia Mudavadi and the Speaker of the National Assembly honorable Moses Wetangula.
