Morocco met Portugal in another quarter final game of the FIFA 2022 World Cup. This was another tough game because it involved two tough Nations that had toiled so hard to reach the quarter final. This is after removing some of the favorites to win the trophy.
Fernando Santos dropped Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench for the second time in a row. The Morocco players had a very good display and they knew that they were representing Africa as a continent.
Morocco went into the game as the underdogs and everybody thought that the Nation was automatically going to be eliminated by the Portuguese. This is after the 6-1 thrashing that Portugal gave to Switzerland in the round of 16.
Tables turned and they raised their game high and made sure that they got a goal before the end of the first half. This really helped them a lot since they really know how to hold and defend well when they are in front.
Yahya Attia Attia Allah gave Youssef En-Nesyri a good pass and he scored a goal. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of the African Nation. The second half started on a very high note and the Portuguese Manager decided to make some substitutions but they did not materialize.
He substituted Raphael Guerreiro and replaced him with Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves with Cristiano Ronaldo, Otavio with Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos with Rafael Leao and Diogo Dalot with Ricardo Horta.
The Manager of Morocco also made some changes, he substituted Romain Saiss and replaced him with Achraf Dari, Selim Amallah with Walid Cheddira, Youssef En-Nesyri with Badr Benoun, Hakim Ziyech with Zakaria Aboukhlal and Sofiane Boufal with Yahya Jabrane.
Walid Cheddira was sent off but this did not make the players to give up. They defended their lead until the last whistle of the game. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Morocco. This is how Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portugal squad were sent home.
