Arsenal met Bayer Leverkusen in another pre-season friendly game just before the start of the new Premier League season. Mikel Arteta named a very strong squad for that encounter. The goalpost had David Raya, the defence had Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The midfield had Jorginho, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz. The forwad line had Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Landro Trossard.
Xabi Alonso also named a very strong squad for the encounter. His squad had, Matej Kovar, Edmond Tapsoba, Jonathan Tah, Odilon Kossounou, Piero Hincape, Granit Xhaxa, Aleix Garcia, Jeremie Frimpong, Martin Terrier, Florian Wirtz and Amine Adli.
The first half started on a very high note. Arsenal scored two quick successive goals in a span of two minutes. Oleksandr Zinchenko put the Gunners ahead on the 8th minute. Leandro Trossard, then doubled the lead just one minute later.
Gabriel Jesus scored the third goal before the end of the first half. The first half ended 3-0 in favor of Arsenal.
The second half started on a very high note and Arsenal added the fourth goal through Kai Havertz. Bayer Leverkusen then got one consolation goal through Adam Hlozek.
Mikel Arteta made several changes in his squad. He substituted Fabio Vieira and replaced him with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus with Declan Rice, Oleksandr Zinchenko with Myles Lewis-Skelly, William Saliba with Jakub Kiwior and Jorginho with Thomas Partey.
Martin Odegaard with Ethan nwaneri, Gabriel Magalhaes with Ayden Heaven, Ben White with Josh Nichols, Kai Havertz with Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard with Gabriel Martinelli.
Xabi Alonso also made a couple of changes. He substituted Jeremie Frimpong with Nathan Tella, Piero Hincapie with Victor Boniface, Amine Adli with Robert Andrich, Odilon Kossounou with Adam Hlozek.
Martin Terrier with Jonas Hofmann, Florian Wirtz with Jeanuel Belocian, Jonathan Tah with Artur and Granit Xhaxa with Gustavo Puerta. The game ended 4-1 in favor of Arsenal.
