Manchester United met Melbourne Victory in another pre-season friendly game. Erik ten Hag named a very strong squad for that game. He named Tom Heaton in the goalpost, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot in the defence. Fred and Scott McTominay in the midfield and Anthony Elanga, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial in the forward line.
The game started on a very high note and Melbourne Victory got the first goal through Christopher Ikonomidis. Scott McTominay scored an equalizer for the Red Devils. Anthony Martial then managed to score the second goal towards the end of the first half. The first half-ended 2:1 in favor of the Red Devils.
The second half began on a very high note and the Manchester United Manager made a couple of changes. He replaced Anthony Elanga with Amad Traore, Jadon Sancho with Tahith Chong, Bruno Fernandes with Donny Van De Beek, Anthony Martial with Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw with Tyrell Malacia, Fred with Charlie Savage, Victor Lindelof with Alex Telles, Diogo Dalot with Ethan Laird, Harry Maguire with Eric Baily and Scott McTominay with Didane Iqbal.
The Manchester United players did their best and they managed to turn things around in the second half. Marcus Rashford scored the third goal before Tahith Chong rounded up the score line. He added the fourth goal towards the end of the game.
The game ended 4:1 in favor of the Red Devils. This is a great indication that the upcoming season will be a wonderful one for the team since it has a new coach who has brought in new ideas.
