Aaron Ramsdale was bought by Mikel Arteta during the transfer window in order to become the backup goalkeeper and challenge Bernd Leno as the number one goalkeeper of the club. He watched from the stands as the German international goalkeeper struggled in the first three Premier League games.
He was given the opportunity to try his luck and he perfectly took the chance. He has now managed to leapfrog Bernd Leno in the pecking order and he is currently the first choice goalkeeper. He has rewarded the Manager for believing in him by keeping three clean sheets in his first four games in the Premier League.
This has not gone well with Bernd Leno and there have been reports that he is considering a move away from the Emirates. He is a top goalkeeper and he does not enjoy to be the second to another player. He was also brought in to be the backup to Peter Cech but he performed well and took the number one spot from him.
There are however very many reasons as to why Arsenal may regret if the club allows the German international player to leave the club. He can perfectly act as a good backup. If he is allowed to go, then the club will suffer because there is no proper backup for Aaron Ramsdale. If the club has good options, then Aaron Ramsdale may have not been brought on board.
The club may also regret the same way it regretted why it left Emiliano Martinez to go to Aston Villa. He is now one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and the first choice goalkeeper of Argentina. Leno still has a lot of potential and he still has a lot that he can offer the club.
The club should also borrow a leaf from Chelsea. Edouard Mendy was brought in and he took the place of Kepa Arrizabalaga. The club has however not sold the Spaniard international goalkeeping because he lost his position to Mendy.
