It has been revealed that the World Cup for the Under 17 players will take place at the same time when KCSE will also be going on in Kenya. The squad that shone and made Kenya to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in history has 8 players who are in form four.
The players are in dilemma as whether to sit for KCSE or go for the World Cup. This is a topic that has brought a lot of discussions around it and it has brought many suggestions. There are people who have told them that they should miss the KCSE and go for the World Cup.
The argument around this is that KCSE will always be there and the players can still sit for it even after the World Cup. They also argued that they never know the next time that Kenya will qualify for the World Cup again and they will also not be under 17 again.
Other people also said that this is a National function and the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Education can have a work around so that the 8 players can be allowed to sit for Supplementary exam when they return back because they will go for the World Cup to represent the country and uplift the flag of Kenya high.
Some people said that they should focus on World Cup first because different European clubs will have their scouts at the competition and they will be recruiting the players who will impress them. They urged the Harambee Starlets players to go and do their best because talent nowadays pays.
Other people also had varied opinions and said that if National exams are always being administered to even pregnant students in hospitals, why then can’t someone go with them and administer the exams to them as they also represent the country.
