Arsenal is seriously in need of a striker this January if the club want to at least win something this season and challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title.
The Gunners have been linked to many players including Benjamin Sesko whose deal has just become too complicated. He is Mikel Arteta’s target and the club is ready to splash money, but RB Leipzig is not willing to let him go this January but can listen to offers in the summer.
Reports have now indicated that, the club is so desperate for a striker and Mikel Arteta now want Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran. He has also drawn attention from some clubs like Chelsea and PSG who are all interested in his services.
The Colombian international player has so far scored 12 goals for Aston Villa this season and he has only started 7 games out of the 9 games that have been played. He has always been very brilliant whenever given the chance to shine.
He however has to accept the fact that he cannot bench Ollie Watkins for now because he is the preferred centre forward for Unai Emery.
Mikel Arteta want a striker who can score goals because Kai Havertz is not a striker in the first case. He has also played so many games and he looks exhausted. It is very tough to get very good strikers in January because many clubs never want to release their performing players in that period.
The big question is that, can Unai Emery actually sanction a deal and sell Jhon Duran to Arsenal. It should be remembered that he was the first manager who was signed just after Arsene Wenger’s tenure ended.
He however was dismissed after a series of poor run of results. It is still not very clear if he will agree and do a transfer with Arsenal especially for a striker.
