Governors Simba Arati and Amos Nyaribo Clash Over Gusii Leadership

Two powerful Governors from the Gusii land have found themselves in an awkward situation after all of them claimed to be the spokesperson of that community. This has resulted into a Supremacy battle.

The vocal Kisii Governor honourable Simba Arati referred to himself as the self-proclaimed Spokesperson of the Gusii community and he even affirmed that he will work tirelessly hard to unite the community. He uttered these words in an event that was attended by honourable Raila Odinga who is the Chief Principal of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition.

The clashes began just after Governor Simba Arati had declared himself as the Spokesperson of the Gusii Community. Governor Amos Nyaribo of Nyamira County stood up immediately after Simba Arati had finished his statement.

He questioned who had installed him as the official spokesperson of the Gusii community. These clashes occurred at Menyenya Settlement Scheme in Nyamira County at the burial of honourable Benson Kegoro who is the former Member of Parliament of North Mugirango constituency.

The utterances of Governor Simba Arati however were not met with goodwill but rather some resistance from a section of the people such as the elderly politicians who showed that they were not comfortable with the decision.

The community is known with the fact that they do not always follow one politician despite the fact that the Kisii Governor enjoys a wide support from both his county Kisii and the neighbouring Nyamira County.

This was even evident when a section of leaders wanted to front the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Professor Ezekiel Machogu as the leader of the community but it backfired.

Honourable Simba Arati also took the opportunity to welcome his brother and former ally, Senator Onyonka so that they can work together and bring development to Kisii County. He added that through his support they will fight the menace of corruption that has crippled the county.

On the positive side, Senator Onyonka welcomed the gesture of the Governor and he stated that he has no problem and honourable Raila had talked to him so that they can settle their differences.
