Raila Odinga’s Allegations on the 2023 KCPE Results Saga

Raila Odinga who is the official opposition leader has said that disputes over procurement within the education ministry are at the heart of the anomalies seen in the recently published KCPE results for 2023.

Some of the pupils got their Kiswahili grades misaligned with Kenyan Sign Language, despite the fact that they did not take the latter course, this is according to criticisms voiced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu in the results issued on November 23.

There were even claims that every single student at one particular school got a 75 on the science test.

Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Wednesday, Odinga said that in 2016, due to worries over the national tests’ integrity, a UK firm was contracted to print them. He asserted that the Kenya Kwanza government abruptly ended the tender with this year’s exam due to the UK company’s refusal to provide kickbacks.

This contract was given to a Mombasa Road-based company by the Kenya Kwanza administration. The reliability of the tests was jeopardized because it lacked the necessary resources.

According to him, the Mombasa Road-based firm contracted with an Indian firm.

The head of the opposing party claims this is what caused the disaster that everyone saw after the release of the results.

He also alleged that this also led to the mess that was realized in the transmission of the results using the short code message. He stated that the results that were transmitted were very different from the ones that were in the KNEC portal.

Honorable Raila Odinga also said that it is very sad that for the first time in history, there are students who are in court just because of the results that they received which do not reflect a true picture of them.

He however stated that it is wrong that the government is already conducting the form one selection with all the complains that have been aired.
