PART ONE
When Asiya finally opens her eyes, she is in a sobbing haze. Fatima and Major are caressing each other’s arms in the living room when Ua walks in, paper clutched to his chest, a smile on his face. To cool off, JJ hits the pool.
Bi. Salama, on her way back to the estate, muses to herself about what she said and whether or not it was the correct thing to say, but she doesn’t care about the consequences. Saada calls, inquiring about her whereabouts; it seems she has something to share.
When JJ reaches the pool’s edge, he exits the water. As Major paces from one end of the house to the other, Fatima gently reminds him that he needs to slow down or he risks having a heart attack. She then sits him down, guides him through some breathing exercises, and inquires as to his decision. While Major searches for Asiya in the upper floors of the house, Fatima smiles to herself, thinking about how she never expected things to get easier now that JJ was no longer a family member, and how soon Asiya will be kicked out of the house and she will have the entire place to herself. Saada’s safe return is something she hopes for.
Major goes to Asiya’s room and she opens it for him; he asks her how she could live with herself for so long knowing the evil deed she had committed; he tells her to pack her things and get out of the house because he cannot share a home with a snake; and Asiya, in tears, tries to convince him otherwise.
When JJ comes home, Fatima is composing herself while staring at him; he goes upstairs and finds Ua looking at a sketch that Maria made; he shakes his head and goes to his room, grumpy.
Before Major can leave, Asiya defiantly declares that she won’t leave the house, shocking him into grabbing her neck and strangling her. This time, however, Asiya is unfazed, and she warns Major against ever laying a hand on her again, admitting that she was wrong to keep the secret from him, but that it wasn’t the only secret she was keeping, and that he was responsible for it.
PART TWO
Asiya walks down the stairs with the confidence of the owner, stunning Fatima. She then proceeds to the kitchen, where she pours herself a glass of juice, which she leisurely drinks while sitting on the sofa. In a panic, Fatima runs up to Major’s room to find out if he has kicked her out, but Major is silent.
Zuu brings Mwanzele water as he searches fruitlessly for Kaka, and he speculates that Maria may be falsely accusing Kaka because they don’t know what her intentions are in their village. Mwanzele chimes in that Bi. Salama has trusted Kaka, prompting Zuu to wonder why Salama didn’t tell them Kaka was hiding Buya in her father’s house. Mwanzele was taken aback since he had assumed they shared a common goal of finding Kaka.
Kaka is taken aback when the conductor, who took him for a joke and demands more money, accepts significantly less than he expected.
Seeing JJ staring at a picture of Ua, Major, and himself, Major promptly hangs off the phone and asks the person on the other end to double-check that everything is in order so that JJ won’t have to remind them again. Asiya is astonished to see JJ in the kitchen and she apologizes for everything he found out because she didn’t do it on purpose. JJ shows her the gun under his shirt and wants her to tell him who his parents are, but she says she never got the chance to ask Bi. Salama. JJ laughs at her, surprised that she forgot to ask a crucial question despite the fact that they had always intended to keep the secret; he then tells her that he has lost his identity because she has cut him off from his family, and he asks her whether or not she can see his worth before grabbing her by the neck and telling her he wasn’t done with her.
Kaka searches his bag for the fare but can’t find it; the bus conductor then flags down the driver, saying that someone is messing with him; the conductor grabs Kaka, preparing to throw him out of the bus; however, a kind woman offers to pay his fare for him; when Kaka peeks to see who it is, he is surprised to see Amina smiling at him.
When Major asks to speak with JJ, he walks out on him and is overheard by Fatima, who wants to know whether JJ is leaving for good. Major inquires if she and Asiya have begun packing.
