Written by The Member of Parliament of South Mugirango Constituency honorable Silvanus Osoro has claimed that their phone numbers were leaked to the public and they have been receiving very strange messages urging them to reject the Finance Bill.
Honorable Silvanus Osoro said that he personally received more than 3000 messages and all of them were urging him to reject the Finance Bill. He said that they suspect that someone must have shared their phone numbers all the way from the President.
He admitted that the language used in some of the messages was very vulgar and contained a lot of threats. He however assured the public that they will consider their outcry and will make the necessary considerations when the Finance Bill will be taken to Parliament.
Honorable Silvanus Osoro also said that they have the interest of Kenyans at heart and they will determine each clause independently before voting for or against it.
The Member of Parliament of Mumias East Constituency, honorable Peter Salasya also poured out his public outcry and said that he received over 5000 messages from strangers who were asking him to also reject the Finance Bill 2024.
Honorable Peter Salasya added that he could not sleep because his phone was really vibrating, some people were calling, others texting and others sending messages via Watsapp. It is still not known who might have leaked the phone numbers of the Members of Parliament and shared it online to the public.
Kenyans chose that path because they feel that they are already overburdened and if the Finance Bill is passed, then it will be very unbearable for some businesses to continue operating because of the high taxes.
Already some companies have laid off their workers because they cannot continue to pay them as things stand currently due to the high taxation in the country as they claim.
