Secrets That Made Uhuru Kenyatta Drop his AU Bid and Back Raila Odinga

The immediate former Kenya President, honorable Uhuru Kenyatta initially wanted the African Commission Union Chairperson’s seat but he left his bid and promised to support honorable Raila Odinga who he also supported during the last general elections. His reason for dropping his bid was echoed by his ally, honorable David Murathe.

David Murathe stated that the former head of State was not sure whether he was going to get the backing of President William Ruto. They have not been in good terms since their second term in office. He was therefore not very sure if he could have received the support of the current Head of State.

Honorable David Murathe also added that for one to win that seat, the support of the government where one hails from is very crucial and it plays a very major role. Honorable Uhuru Kenyatta had however got some support from East African countries like Ethiopia, South Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He however stepped down and he is fully backing the candidacy of honorable Raila Odinga who is also being supported by the government. The Kenya Kwanza government had declared their full support for the former Prime Minister stating that his win will also be a win for Kenya.

The former President, honorable Uhuru Kenyatta cited that the main reason why he quit the race is because the government is already supporting another candidate. This means that if he could have been in the race, then he could have lost a very decisive vote from his country.

It could have even made it hard for him to garner support from the other Heads of State to give him their votes because the parent country has to support one of their own. Honorable Raila Odinga has now gotten support from many people and Kenyans are hoping that he will get that seat even as he plans to retire from active politics.
