Thomas Partey proved to Mikel Arteta in the game against Manchester City that he is the best defensive midfielder that Arsenal currently has and nobody can match his energy and skills in that position.
He once again gave the Manager and Arsenal’s Board another reason not to let him go but pin him down with another contract so that he can continue giving his best when he plays in his natural position.
Arsenal fans told Mikel Arteta that he should stop being stubborn and desist from playing Thomas Partey out of position by playing him as a make shift right-back whenever the team is in injury crisis but play him in his natural position.
The fans also noted that, whenever Thomas Partey plays in the defensive midfield role, Arsenal barely loses the game. He bossed the midfield and made the Manchester City midfielders like Mateo Kovacic to completely get lost in the team.
Bernardo Silva was not even anywhere to be seen. Thomas Partey pocketed all the Manchester City midfielders and he still managed to offer some defensive duties at the back by protecting the defenders.
The fans told Mikel Areta that, there are very many players who can be converted to be right backs so that they play that position whenever there is a crisis. They even told him that, he can go and pick another player from the Academy the way he picked Myles Lewis-Skelly who is a midfielder and converted him into a left back and he is currently actually Mikel Arteta’s first choice left back.
He is even ahead of Kieran Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riccardo Calafiori who are all natural left backs. Thomas Partey should just be allowed to be himself and he should be played in his right position any time that he is fit the same way that he is enjoying an injury free season with Arsenal for the first time since he was bought from Atletico Madrid.
