Reports have indicated that several secret camps have been formed in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance in a bid to succeed honorable Raila Odinga who will exit the local politics soon so that he can focus his full energy in the position of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
There are at least four factions that have emerged in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition. This may tamper with the existence of the Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections. One of the Camps is that of Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa who have been at the forefront of putting President William Ruto’s government in check.
They have been working closely together and they have held several political rallies across the country. The other political camp that has been formed in the Azimio Coalition is that of Martha Karua and Jeremiah Kioni.
They are also in close collaboration with Mwangi wa Iria, Nderitu Muriithi and Peter Munya. The politicians successfully planned the Limuru III meeting and they also used that forum to announce the formation of the Haki Coalition in the Mount Kenya region that is aimed at bringing all the small parties in the Mount Kenya region together.
They can also not be downplayed because they were also very vital in the 2022 general elections and they gave Raila Odinga very many votes that he had never gotten from the Mount Kenya region.
Another camp that is seeking to succeed honorable Raila Odinga is the one led by Hassan Joho and another one led by Wycliffe Oparanya. They are all deputies of Raila Odinga in ODM and all of them are planning to succeed him as the party leader of the ODM party and eventually be in the Presidential ballot in 2027.
Hassan Joho had already declared his interest in the Presidency and he said that he will also be in the ballot in 2027. He is backed by some ODM members and Wycliffe Oparanya is also backed by some ODM members. Therefore, the party is divided in the succession of Raila Odinga.
