Part 1 of a written update for the episode airing on SULTANA on January 19, 2023.
Kaka has a terrifying dream in which he discovers blood on the leaves near where they buried Kokan’s body, and then, as he looks about, Kokan raises a log in preparation to strike him; Kaka wakes up screaming, alarming Buya, who attempts to ask him what’s wrong, but he knows Kaka would lie. Kaka has no choice but to lie to Buya, telling him that he is afraid they will be ambushed if people find out Buya has been there all along. Buya sympathizes with Kaka’s predicament but insists that this isn’t the source of his unease, and he tries to persuade Kaka to confide in him in the hopes that he can help him through it.
Mwanzele goes to the hospital, but is dismayed to discover that the doctor on duty is a woman; he is ashamed to discuss his private issues with her, but he eventually gives in and sits down for treatment.
Kaka, who had assumed that Zuu and Mwanzele had resolved their differences, returns home to discover Zuu yelling Mwanzele’s name and demands to know what’s wrong; Zuu explains that Mwanzele only visited because he brought a lot of money. Kaka is not concerned since he knows that his father did what he had to do to keep the family afloat despite their financial woes. In a hurry, Zuu dashes off to tell Bi. Salama that Maneno’s grave has been unearthed.
When Major is asked if he has heard anything about Kokan, he is unhappy and decides to turn the case over to the police. Fatima rushes downstairs, protesting that she can’t keep living like this because Asiya departs whenever she pleases without finishing her duties, but Major reveals that he gave Asiya permission to leave. Fatima asks him why he would do that, given that she had to care for Ua despite not knowing how to handle people who are mentally ill.
A trip to Bi for Asiya. Salama na fujo confronts her, demanding to know who else besides Bi she has told their secret. As Asiya chatters, Salama selects seats. She sits down and asks whether the two of them have been keeping a secret from one another and are now forced to come clean. Asiya assures her that no one, not even Major, will believe her story about how Ua is driving her crazy every day. They should now focus on what they need to do to silence Babu, she says, adding that Ua’s breakdown after learning the truth was a tremendous rescue. However, their chat is cut short when Maria makes a racket and runs into Sultana’s chamber. After Asiya started talking, she became concerned since she didn’t realize Sultana was home.
Major brings Ua some food, but before he goes back inside, Ua asks him why he was doing that to her despite his claims that he loves her. He is taken aback because he had assumed that Ua was angry, but then Fatima interrupts and he asks him whom he was speaking to, and Fatima says she didn’t hear Ua say anything. Major is convinced Ua is playing a trick on him and claims she would never escape the kennel.
WRITTEN UPDATE ON THE SULTANA EPISODE OF JANUARY 19, 2023, PART 2.
Asiya starts to freak out, asking Bi if Sultana has overheard the entire chat about her. Salama releases her so that she can try to influence Sultana through conversation, but Bi is able to counteract his efforts. In response to Salama’s request for her to “leave it up to her,” Zuu rushes in, shouting, holding the bouquet of flowers, with Kaka close behind. Zuu is taken aback to see Asiya in attendance.
When Major asks Dida if she knows where JJ slept, she harshly responds that he must have slept under a tree and her mother phones her to find out where she’s going. Dida says that her father wouldn’t lock up her mother like a dog and let her starve no matter how nasty she was; in response, Fatima slaps her and tells her to shut her mouth; Dida spits in her face and walks out. Major gets up and leaves the room as Fatima tries to apologize for her daughter’s actions.
Mwanzele’s results come back, and he learns that he has a genetic disease that renders him impotent. However, he refuses to accept the news because he has a kid, and he rushes out of the hospital in a huff.
Maria overhears Zuu telling Bi. Salama that she dug up Maneno’s grave and that he will likely begin human sacrifices soon, but Salama makes her return to him anyhow. While Asiya agrees with Kaka, he adds that he doesn’t think Mwanzele stole the money from Major. Since Zuu doesn’t have any faith in Major’s associates, she is asked to leave. Maria recalls the time she helped dig the grave.
Dida goes to Kaka’s house, causing Buyaa to panic; she keeps asking that Kaka should let her in because she wants to talk to him; Mwanzele walks by and Dida attempts to explain that she came in search of Kaka but it looks he wasn’t there; he assures her that he won’t come between them. On the inside, Buya is crying.
While Maria is watching Sultana sleep, she begins to worry.
