Part 1 of a written update for the episode airing on SULTANA on January 10, 2023.
Mwanzele tries to reassure his wife, Zuu, that he didn’t betray the entire village, and that their connection with Major has borne fruit despite many setbacks, but she doesn’t want to hear it, so she gets up and leaves, leaving Mwanzele alone to smile to himself.
Bi. Salama is about to go when JJ intervenes; he claims he fell, but she says Sultana fled without telling her where she was going. Bi. Salama tells her that Sultana would have died, and they would be preparing for her burial, which shocks JJ. JJ cuts the narrative short by saying he only came there to see Sultana to go take a paternity test and if the baby isn’t his, he won’t worry them anymore. Sada shows there, having heard about what transpired, and inquires of Bi. Salama about the well-being of her daughter.
Screams are what Dida and Fatima hear as Bi. Since they are trapped, Ua struggles to break free from Major’s hold; Dida tries to help, but her mother stops her. Major carries Bi. Ua, who is begging him not to hurt her, down the stairs and into the kennel-like cage. As Major and Bi head upstairs, Dida runs ahead of Asiya and Fatima. Ua.
Bi. Salama tells them that her kid would benefit from having a supportive adult in her life. Sada tells JJ he doesn’t need to add to the difficulty because he was already there, which shows how much he cares for Sultana, and JJ responds that they, too, are going through a lot with no one to hold their hand. JJ claims he doesn’t have to wait to find out if the pregnancy is his or Kokan’s because he was already there. His aunt has told him to wait until he hears from Sultana to make sure she is fine, and then he can go ahead and take the exams. Dida, clearly anxious, calls Sada and warns her to return home immediately or Major will kill Bi. Only Ua, her, and JJ have a chance of stopping him.
Major puts Ua in the cage and justifies it by saying that she deserves to be there because she is being disruptive and won’t leave him alone. Bi. Ua begs Asiya to rescue her, but Asiya can’t find her. Ua then enters Fatima’s home, where Fatima mocks her while smiling. Ua gives her a facial scratch.
Dizzy and disoriented, Sultana leaves the secret place but is rescued from the ground by a nurse.
JJ is outraged by his dad’s behavior, but Sada explains to him that it’s in his dad’s nature to be cruel. Instead of becoming Major’s son, JJ would have preferred to have been born into a poor but peaceful family. Bi. Hearing him say those words brings up tears in Salama. JJ promises his father he can go insane too, but he changes his mind when he realizes Sada is left behind. Sada tells him she won’t return there because his father chased her, but she will come returning because she has certain things to deal with.
Part 2 of the SULTANA Episode Written Update for January 10, 2023
Bi. Ua sobs, “amefungwa kama mbwa jamani!” as she struggles to break away. Sad tears fall from her eyes as she tries and fails to pick the padlock. Inside, Major walks around as Fatima observes him with a smirk on her face, Dida glares at him, and Asiya stands nearby, following his every move with her gaze.
Kokan goes to wash his wounds with a damp cloth, but his efforts are interrupted as Sultana storms in, fuming.
Asiya retrieves Ua’s garments while thinking that Major appears to have been completed by Bi. Ua and she will no longer show mercy; Ua must accept her fate; Ua has a life to live; yet, the longer Ua is kept in confinement, the more uneasy her heart becomes.
Seductively, Fatima approaches Major to applaud his actions and add that things would be different if he had made that decision sooner. The woman grabs the hip flask and decides to cook for and feed the man herself. She cuts off Major just as he starts to speak, explaining that her husband has been discovered at the wrong time. Dida is alarmed by her mom’s behavior, which she sees firsthand. Dida calls her mother “heartless” after hearing Bi. Ua’s cries for help.
As Sultana rests her head on Kokan’s lap, the former king lavishes her with compliments on her beauty. After Sultana requests it, he brings her a glass of water. According to her, she was previously unable to recognize his efforts because she was blinded by something. The fact that he brought her juice is a big deal in her eyes. A twist occurs when Sultana reprimands Kokan for deceiving her entire family.
After hearing that his father was no longer his father, JJ went to try to liberate his mom, but his dad stopped him and demanded to know what he was doing there. JJ says that putting his wife up like a dog is inhumane. Major maintains that he is not connected to Ua because he has disowned him.
Sultana tells Kokan that she is a medical professional and that the pregnancy test results confirm that JJ is the father. Kokan is taken aback when he accepts the results paper; he demands to know why she went there without telling him, to which she replies that she couldn’t give him the chance to go and alter the results. Kokan offers to buy Sultana more presents, but she refuses, saying that she is finished with him the moment she walks out the door and that he shouldn’t test her since she might turn out to be nuts.
Major warns JJ not to mess with his marriage and says he won’t give him the power to set Ua free. JJ tries to move by him but Major pushes him down and clenches his fists preparing to fight JJ.
