What was Witnessed as Arsenal Beat Bournemouth 5-4 on Penalties After a 1-1 Draw in Their Pre-Season Game

Arsenal met Bournemouth in their pre-season game and Mikel Arteta gave very many young stars the chance to showcase what they had. His first eleven had Karl Hein at the goalpost, the defence had Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Ayden Heaven and Myles Lewis-Skelly. The midfield had Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Thomas Partey and Fabio Vieira.

The forward line had Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and Ethan Nwaneri. It was a very young squad and they all got some minutes to play and convince Mikel Arteta on who will be playing regularly in his first team and the players who will be either sold or taken on loan.

Karl Hein is the only player who played the full minutes, all the other on-field players were substituted. Fabio Vieira scored the first goal of the game just after 18 minutes of play and he put the Gunners ahead. The goal was however equalized in the second half by Antoine Semenyo.

Mikel Arteta substituted Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand and replaced him with Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey with Jorginho, Jurrien Timber with Omar Rekik, Myles Lewis Skelly with Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Eddie Nketiah with Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira with Charles Sagoe Jr, Reiss Nelson with Leandro Trossard, Ayden Heaven with Jakub Kiwior, Ben White with Josh Nicholas and Ethan Nwaneri with Jimi Gower.

The game ended 1-1 and the two teams went for post-match penalties. Antoine Semenyo, Dango Quattara, Adam Smith and Daniel Jebbison all scored their penalties for Bournemouth but Philip Billing and Ryan Christie missed their chances.

Martin Odegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jorginho, Gabriel Jesus and Jakub Kiwior also scored their penalties for Arsenal and only Leandro Trossard missed his penalty.

This was just a pre-season game and the players still have very many games to play and they will continue to learn from their mistakes and build on that so that they may start the new Premier League campaign on a very high note.
