Manchester United met Liverpool in another pre-season game. Erik ten Hag did not get it right again and his side lost 3-0 to Arne Slot’s side despite fielding an equally very able lineup.
Erik ten Hag named his first team which included, Andre Onana, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Amad Diallo, Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.
Arne Slot also named an equally strong lineup for that encounter. His squad included, Caimhin Kelleher, Kostas Tsimikas, Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Harvey Elliot, Fabio Carvalho, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
The first half started on a very high note and Fabio Carvalho scored the first goal and then Curtis Jones added the second goal. The first half ended 2-0 in favor of Liverpool.
The second half too started on a very high note and Kostas Tsimikas added the third goal. Erik ten Hag made some changes, but they were not of any help to his team. He substituted Victor Lindelof and replaced him with Rhys Bennett, Jonny Evans with Will Fish, Marcus Rashford with Scott McTominay, Amad Diallo with Antony, Toby Collyer with Christian Eriksen.
Mason Mount with Ethan Wheatley, Will Fish with Maxi Oyedele, Harry Amass with Sam Murray, Jadon Sancho with Sam Mather and Aaron Wan-Bissaka with James Scanlon.
Arne Slot on the other hand, also made several changes in his squad. He substituted Caoimhin Keller with Vitezslav Jaros, Ibrahima Konate with Sepp van den Berg, Curtis Jones with Treymaurice Nyoni, Jarrell Quansah with Nat Phillips, Kostas Tsimikas with Luke Chambers, Ryan Gravenberch with Wataru Endo.
Harvey Elliot with Stefan Bajcetic, Mohamed Salah with Ben Doak, Fabio Carvalho with Tyler Morton, Diogo Jota with Harvey Blair and Conor Bradley with Luca Stephenson. The game eventually ended 3-0 in favor of Liverpool.
This 3-0 defeat has once again exposed Erik ten Hag and it shows him that there are a lot of things that he needs to do before the start of the new season.
