How Raila’s 2018 Mock Swearing in as the People’s President Could Cost him the AU Chairperson Position

The former Prime Minister, honorable Raila Odinga was sworn in in 2018 as the People’s President. This is something that can come back to haunt him as he is now gearing to become the next Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

International Relations experts have stated that, Raila Odinga’s mock swearing in as the People’s President back in 2018, may come back to haunt him. He was sworn in by Miguna before he was later deported to Canada.

This may seem as a threat to his AUC candidacy because he has been an opposition leader for now close to three decades. He has also good relationships with other opposition leaders who are criticizing the leadership of the Presidents who he wants to vote for him.

This may make the Presidents to panic because they do not know what honorable Raila Odinga may be planning with the other opposition leaders who are keeping them on toes.

The International Relations Experts have also said that, there are some hurdles that may prove to be a stumbling block for Raila Odinga’s quest to become the next Chairperson of the Africa Union Commission.

Some of those hurdles are like, Kenya’s abandonment of neutrality in global politics when Joe Biden designated the country as a major non-Nato ally, the question of the Francophone which are the countries that speak French, a possible stab by the neighbors when it comes to the secret ballot and the age factor owing to the fact that, honorable Raila Odinga is now aged though with a lot of experience.

President William Ruto intensified his campaign for the former Prime Minister when they visited China for the China-Africa Cooperation Summit. He took that opportunity and campaigned for Raila Odinga as he introduced him to the other Heads of States. He is bagging on them so that they can support the former Prime Minister to clinch that seat.
