Sorrow has engulfed Hillside Endarasha Academy that is found in Nyeri County. This is after 16 students burnt beyond recognition in a fire incident that erupted in the school. Some 14 students were also rushed to the hospital while in very critical conditions after sustaining very serious injuries and burns from that fire incident.
The incident was confirmed by the National Police Service Spokesperson Resila Onyango. What is yet to be established is the course of the fire that took the lives of young students.
Benjamin Rotich who is the Nyeri County Police Commander also confirmed that, the fire incident indeed occurred and it broke at around midnight when most of the students were already asleep.
The DCI Deputy Director John Onyango and the Director of Homicide Martin Nyoguto are at the school and they are conducting a thorough investigation on what could have transpired and what could have led to that fire incident.
The security officers will investigate all the parameters that may have led to that fire incident. They will not leave any stone unturned because losing a total of 16 students in a fire incident is a big loss and a big burden that is heavy to carry for both the school that has lost students and parents who have lost their loved ones.
The students were sleeping at the dormitory at Hillside Endarasha Academy when the fire incident occurred. The parents have already been informed and they have arrived at the school to check on their students.
It is however sad that some of the parents will not go back with their children because they have burnt beyond recognition. This is indeed a very bitter pill to swallow for parents who just paid school fees for their kids to get better and quality education.
We will keep you posted as more development news erupts concerning this fire incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy.
