Honorable Millie Odhiambo was concerned with how honorable Linet Toto knelt down while addressing a fellow member of Parliament, honorable Francis Sigei of Sotik Constituency.
She told the house that she didn’t see it fit because, in the National Assembly they are all equal and it is not in order especially in Parliament. She however admitted that, she understands that honorable Linet Toto is younger than honorable Francis Sigey but she was just showing some respect as expected culturally.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, honorable Moses Wetangula however told honorable Millie Odhiambo that, if she goes and read the Hansard, then she will realize that, the last time kneeling was used in the National Assembly, a Vice President by the name of Josphat Njuguna Karanja lost his job and therefore they should not go in that direction.
The leader of the Minority, honorable Junet Mohamed also stood up and cracked the members of Parliament into laughter. The Suna East member of Parliament stated that, he is aware that honorable Linet Toto just came back from Uganda and she must have learnt the mannerism of how to kneel before men from Uganda.
The house burst in laughter as he went ahead and stated that, that is the way it should be and that is the direction that should be taken. He however concluded by saying that, he just said that on a light note and should therefore not be taken seriously.
Honorable Junet Mohamed is always known to be controversial and he sometimes crack jokes in the National Assembly.
