The death of the Public Health students who were heading to Mombasa for an academic tour is something that has left a lot of trauma to both the students and the alumni of Kenyatta University.
Kenyatta University is still mourning the death of the brilliant minds who were consumed by the road accidents. This has even brought more fear among the student fraternity and they are even afraid of embarking on trips as at now.
The latest one was the incident where the Kenyatta University students were supposed to head to Changamwe in Mombasa County.
They were to take off their journey at 6am but three hours later, there were no students at the bus picking spot at Kenyatta University.
Some of the names of the students who perished in that accident are like Hellen Mbula Kisilu, John Mbiriri Mureithi, Patricia Murugi Mwangi, Felix Gori Nyaata and Austin Omondi Owino.
Others are, Rodgers Kiprono Rono, Navile Omondi Opiyo, Beneas Otieno, Vallary Akinyi Ouma, Michael Muteti and Oslo Mwendwa among others.
The accident was so devastating and it even forced the University to suspend Education for the remaining days of that week in honor of the departed comrades.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics at Kenyatta University, Professor Waceke Wanjohi also confirmed that the departed comrades were from the Department of Health Management and Informatics and they were brilliant students who had a bright future ahead of them.
The other Kenyatta University students who got injured are still recovering and we hope that they will be able to overcome the trauma and move on well. It may not be easy because they will never see some of their course mates again.
