Why Arsenal Could be Forced to Play 16 Year Old Goalkeeper Jack Porter Against Bolton

The squad depth of Arsenal has so far been tested this season despite the fact that it is just one month since the new season began. Mikel Arteta has found himself in another situation but now not regarding the midfield or the forward line but rather the goalkeeping position.

Arsenal will meet Bolton in the EFL Cup and as a custom, the second choice goalkeeper is the one who always capitalizes on such games to show the Manager what he can do. It will however be very difficult this time because, Neto who is supposed to be the second goalkeeper will not be available for this match despite the fact that he is fit.

Neto who is on loan from Bournemouth, is cup tied because he had already participated in the Carabao Cup in the second round. Bournemouth was however defeated by West Ham United in that game. This means that, Neto is Cup tied and he cannot participate.

Tommy Setford who could be another option has also not been in the squad since the international break. It is believed that, he is having some fitness issues and therefore he cannot make it to the game.

David Raya who is the number one goalkeeper has been helping Arsenal inn both the Premier League and the Champions League. The player needs some rest especially after getting very busy on Sunday against Manchester City. This is therefore Jack Porter’s opportunity to shine.

He picked up a knock in that game and therefore he will take the opportunity today and have some rest ahead of the next Premier League game. He has so far been the best Arsenal player and he has proven while Mikel Arteta decided to stick with him as his first choice goalkeeper and sell Aaron Ramsdale.

Jack Porter is equally a good goalkeeper and he has been doing some good job with the junior team. If given the chance, this will be a perfect opportunity for him to prove to Mikel Arteta that he can also help the senior team.
