“Did David Raya Bet,” Arsenal Fans Question Raya’s Gift to Gordon for the Second Goal

Arsenal was knocked out of the Carabao Cup after being Thrashed by Newcastle United 2-0 to make it to a 4-0 aggregate. This was the third time that Newcastle United has beaten Arsenal this season without any response.

Arsenal looked shaky from the word go and Alexander Isak’s disallowed goal. The team was really disoriented and Newcastle’s game plan was not to park the bus but to add more goals so that they could be safe.

Jacob Murphy scored the opening goal but Arsenal did not take the opportunity to use that as a wakeup call and look for goals. David Raya committed a great blunder and put the club in a very difficult position to even try to make a comeback.

He wasted a lot of time with the ball just few minutes after the start of the second half. He had the opportunity to kick the ball to the forward player, but gave a flimsy pass to Declan Rice while trying to build from the back just at the edge of his penalty area.

This was a super gift to Anthony Gordon who was a thorn in the flesh to the Arsenal defence. He wasted no chance but converted the opportunity. His second goal meant that, Arsenal now had to score at least five goals in order for them to go to the finals.

Many Arsenal fans asked themselves if David Raya was really okay or if he had placed a bet that Arsenal was going to lose the game to Newcastle United.

That was a very cheap pass because he was very much aware of the aggressive nature of the Newcastle United forward players. They looked more lethal as compared to the Arsenal forward players.

They approached the game with a lot of purpose and they knew what they wanted in that game. Their determination finally paid off and they advanced to the finals of the Carabao Cup.
