CS Mbadi Gives JSS Interns a Shocker Concerning Their Employment on Permanent and Pensionable Terms

The Cabinet Secretary of the National Treasury, honorable John Mbadi, has given the Junior Secondary School (JSS) interns a shocker after revealing more about their absorption into Permanent and Pensionable Terms.

Honorable John Mbadi said that, there is no doubt that they have the funds that are needed in order to absorb the JSS interns into Permanent and Pensionable Terms. The only problem is that; the money can only be availed in January 2025.

The Cabinet Secretary of the National Treasury revealed this, when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Budget and Finance. He appeared before the Committee in order to explain why the government had decided to reduce the shareable revenues to the counties by a whopping 20 Billion shillings.

He gave a comprehensive explanation that, the government had to take that initiative because, the withdrawal of the Finance Bill meant a lot and therefore they had to first deal with some critical issues at hand.

Some of the critical issues are the hiring of the JSS intern teachers, posting of the medical interns and the Implementation of the Universal Health Coverage and the construction of five stadia that will be used for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations.

The statement of honorable John Mbadi is a shocker to the interns because they knew that, they were going to be absorbed when this Financial year was kicking off. The matter is now being pushed further and further.

This means that, the JSS intern teachers will continue to work as interns until next year before they officially get confirmed.

The hiring of the JSS intern teachers has been at the centre of many talks in the country. The JSS Interns themselves went on strike and their demand was to be absorbed into permanent and pensionable terms.

The Gen Z protests also focused on the employment of the JSS intern teachers. The Kenya National Union of Teachers also called off their strike and one of the conditions that they put, was for the JSS intern teachers to be absorbed into permanent and pensionable terms.
